This Christmas is going to be different than the last several. We (meaning my immediate family) are going to be at home with just us. In years past, we have always had at least my parents with us and usually several other members of our extended family. Not that I am complaining. It's just going to be different.
It's funny how as we age and as our kids get older how Christmas takes on a different hue. It is more a time of contemplation than anticipation.
"The tough thing about Christian spirituality is that you have to mean things. You can't just go through the motions or act religious for the wrong reasons... After all, if we are going through religious motions to get people to think of us as religious, praise us and all that, we are receiving our false redemption from a bunch of people who are going to be dead in fifty years. This is a shabby replacement for an eternal God."-Donald Miller

As you can tell, I got a new lens for my camera so will hopefully be posting lots of pictures. Trying to understand how to do a slide show on this post so stay tuned. Should have lots of time to experiment living here in the frozen north. It's not even Christmas yet and we have almost 20 inches of snow already. I hate winter.
New
New
What is new
under the sun?
Everything is new
under the Son.
The old is old
and the new is new.
As far as the east
is from the west.
Jesus I confess to you
the sins of years past
As I confess to you
the sins of seconds past.
Please, remember them no more.

I have been reading a lot of John Eldredge lately. If you've never heard of him or haven't read any of his stuff, I would encourage you to check him out. Some of his books are, Wild at Heart, The Sacred Romance, and Fathered by God.
I am currently reading Fathered by God. One quote from it is, God is a God of process. We get to wanting everything instantly nowdays. As he says in his book, we even have to have somebody make our coffee for us and we want it NOW.
In other words, everyones life is a story. We need to live our lives as a story not as some formula. Life has a way of not going exactly the way we would like it to go. We need to believe that we have a Father that will guide is the the Way.
